Meeting notes
and how-to videos,
in one app.

A screen recorder and a meeting note-taker in one Mac app. For how-to videos, put your camera on the screen and show every click and keyboard shortcut. For meetings, record the other side too — after you stop, CapRex writes the transcript and meeting notes. Audio and text never leave this Mac.

First 3 recordings free, any lengthPaid: monthly, yearly or one-timemacOS 26+, M1 or later

Japanese UI at launch. Sold in Japan first.

Two uses

One app instead of two.

A screen recorder for how-to videos and a note-taker for meetings — CapRex is both. Everything you record lands in the same library.

Both in CapRex

For walkthroughs, handovers and bug reports

Record how-to videos

  • Put your camera on the screen in a round bubble
  • Ripples where you click; keys and shortcuts on screen
  • Auto zoom on small buttons, and a pen while you record
  • What you say becomes a transcript and captions
See screen recording →

For team meetings, client calls and online lessons

Record meetings, get notes

  • No bot joins your call — it records the other side as it plays on your Mac
  • Them (Mac audio) and you (mic), transcribed separately
  • After you stop: a summary, decisions and to-dos
  • Audio and text never leave this Mac
See meeting notes →

Summaries and meeting notes need a Mac with Apple Intelligence (transcripts work without it). Illustrations only.

Screen recording

Camera, clicks, keys and Mac audio —
in one video.

Clicks & keys

Every click,
easy to see.

Click ripples, cursor highlight, keystrokes, auto zoom, an on-screen pen and a round camera bubble go into the video as you record, so there’s nothing to add in an editor later.

  • Ripples and keys are drawn only into the recording, never over your work
  • Keys are shown in the video only; no keystroke log is kept

Audio

Mac audio and your mic,
recorded together.

Sound playing on your Mac (people on a call, app audio) and your own voice from the mic go into one video with the screen — audio that ⌘⇧5 can’t capture on macOS 26.

  • Full screen, window, area, camera only, audio only
  • Pause and a start timer
  • Excluded apps (hide chosen apps’ windows from the recording)

Transcripts

What you say becomes
a transcript and captions.

When you stop, CapRex turns what you said into text and adds captions, a summary and chapters — so you can jump right to the part you need. It all runs on this Mac.

  • Your voice and theirs kept apart, word replacements, translation
  • Summaries, chapters and questions need a Mac with Apple Intelligence

Meetings & notes

Record the meeting.
Get the notes.

No bot joins your call — the other side’s voice is recorded as it plays on your Mac. When you stop, CapRex writes the transcript and meeting notes (summary, decisions, to-dos) right on this Mac.

Accuracy & privacy

Their voice and yours,
transcribed on this Mac.

The other side comes from Mac audio, you come from the mic — recorded separately, then transcribed. Speech recognition and meeting notes both run on this Mac with Apple’s built-in tools, so once the speech model is installed, they work even with Wi-Fi off. Your first 3 recordings are free with no length limit — check the accuracy on your own meetings, then choose.

  • Everyone on the other side is transcribed as one speaker, “Them”
  • With headphones, you and the other side separate most cleanly
  • Set replacements for names and terms
  • Audio and text never leave this Mac
  • No time cap on the paid version, even for long meetings (free: your first 3 recordings)
  • Online lessons too — your teacher’s voice and your instrument in one recording

Let the other side know before you record.

FAQ

Before you buy.

Price & buying

What can I do for free?

Your first 3 recordings have no length limit — transcripts, summaries, meeting notes and asking your recordings included (videos get a small watermark). From the 4th, recordings are up to 3 minutes each, and asking your recordings becomes paid. Screenshots are free without a watermark. The to-do list, saving the last minutes and the prompt to record when a call starts are paid only. Buying removes the time limit and the watermark.

When can I use it?

We’ll announce the launch date on this page as soon as it’s set.

How much is the paid version?

There’s one paid version with everything, and three ways to pay: monthly or yearly (both renew automatically), or a one-time purchase. The one-time purchase covers version 1, and one-time owners can buy 2.0 at half price. Prices outside Japan will be posted here before international sales start.

Monthly, yearly or one-time — which should I pick?

The features are the same, so pick by how long you’ll use it. For a few months, monthly. For a year, yearly costs less than 12 months of monthly. For more than 2 years, the one-time purchase costs less (2.0 is half price for one-time owners). To switch from monthly or yearly to one-time, simply buy the one-time purchase (what you’ve paid isn’t credited).

Will the price go up?

Monthly and yearly plans keep their price for as long as you stay subscribed.

I only need screen recording.

Recording and screenshots work for free (your first 3 recordings have no length limit, then up to 3 minutes each; videos get a small watermark). You can also go monthly just for the months you need long recordings.

How do I stop auto-renewal?

Anytime, online, from the “Manage subscription” page linked in your purchase email. You keep the paid version until the end of the period you paid for. For the yearly plan, we email you the amount and date 15 days before each renewal. When it ends, you’re back on the free plan (up to 3 minutes per recording, with a small watermark), and your recordings stay where they are.

How many Macs can I use it on?

One key works on every Mac you use yourself.

Can I get a refund?

Since you can try your first 3 recordings before buying, we don’t offer refunds for a change of mind. We do give a full refund if it doesn’t work properly on a supported Mac and we can’t fix it, if you paid twice or bought the wrong plan (within 14 days of purchase), or for a yearly auto-renewal (within 14 days of the renewal date). See Refunds (Japanese).

How can I pay?

By card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Your license key arrives by email right after payment.

Meetings & transcripts

How accurate are the transcripts?

It depends on how people speak, the mic and the room. Your first 3 recordings have no length limit, so try it on your usual meetings before you decide. Your voice and theirs are transcribed separately — they separate most cleanly with headphones. Everyone on the other side counts as one speaker (not split by name).

Are summaries as detailed as cloud AI note-takers?

Summaries are made by the AI on your Mac (Apple Intelligence), so they can be shorter than those from cloud AI note-takers. In return, your audio and text never leave your Mac. The full transcript is kept, so you can check the details there, or by asking your recordings.

Can it transcribe English?

Yes. Choose the spoken language in Settings (Japanese, English and more).

What do summaries and questions need?

Summaries, chapters and questions use Apple Intelligence, which runs on your Mac. They work on supported Macs with Apple Intelligence turned on. Recording and transcripts work without it.

Mac & setup

Which Macs does it support?

Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or later) running macOS 26 or later.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Recording, transcripts, summaries and the license check all run on your Mac. Only the speech recognition model is downloaded from Apple, the first time you click Download in Settings. On the monthly and yearly plans, the app goes online around the key’s expiry date to receive the new key.

Where are recordings saved?

In Movies › CapRex by default. You can choose another place, such as Desktop or Documents. Transcript, caption and summary files are saved next to each recording.

Is the app in English? Can I buy it outside Japan?

Not at launch. The app starts in Japanese, so we’ll sell in Japan first. The English app and international sales come after that.

Does it run on Windows or iPhone?

No — CapRex is for Mac only.
